While residents in Cecil County and throughout the state are taking precautions to safeguard themselves against COVID-19, some people are stealing or attempting to steal money through coronavirus-based scams, according to the Maryland U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Governor Hogan’s issued an updated Order on April 10 clarifying how that process is to take place and also allowing for the use of remote video witnessing.
On March 30 Governor Larry Hogan signed an emergency notary Order allowing documents in Maryland to be signed remotely. This was an emergency order meant the help keep notaries and those people signing documents critical enough to require a notary. It’s unfortunately useless as issued.
